Located just 2.5 hours from Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga, Coromandel is a hot spot for Snapper, Kingfish, Trevally, Kahawai and much more. With over 400km of coastline and more than 100 offshore islands the Coromandel offers some of New Zealand’s best fishing.Each of our three fishing boats at Mussel Barge Snapper Safaris have their own unique history as traditional mussel barges and offer you a chance to experience mussel farming history in the Coromandel. Mussel barges are the perfect boat for fishing as they offer a stable and smooth ride, allowing you to focus on reeling in the fish!All our boats offer comfortable seating, a flushable toilet, security railings and an awning for sun protection so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the fishing.Our vessels are regularly maintained by an experienced crew and carry all necessary safety equipment and registrations in line with Maritime New Zealand. Skippers are fully licenced and first aid trained.

With an experienced crew and a variety of charter times available, Mussel Barge Snapper Safaris has something to suit everyone. We welcome individuals, groups and families with children.
If you need rods and bait we have them available for an extra charge, or just byo and turn up with a positive attitude, ready to take on the fish. There are plenty of Snapper to be had, and you could also luck in to some Trevally, Gurnard, John Dory, Kahawai and the very clever Kingfish.
